Rí Rá
$ $This Mandalay Place pub was a big winner in the Irish category, and was also selected for its Scotch and whisky list by journalists Elaine and Scott Harris. Constructed from a pub meticulously restored in Ireland then shipped to Las Vegas, almost every inch of the walls is decorated with Irish bric-a-brac and salvaged material.
Rí Rá roughly translates as any sociable activity that improves with fine food and drink, which is fitting as there is no shortage of either. Authentic Irish and British fare includes UK favorites like beef and Guinness stew (barley, root vegetables and mashed potatoes), shepherd’s pie (a savory mix of lamb, potato mash, leeks, onions, peas, carrots and gravy), bangers and mash (grilled Irish sausages, champ, roasted tomato, peas and Guinness onion gravy) and corned beef and cabbage (house-brined corned beef, mashed potatoes, braised cabbage and traditional Irish parsley sauce).
More than 30 beers can be found here, alongside 130 whiskeys. The former include UK brews such as Old Speckled Hen and O’Hara’s Irish Red ale, local creations like Able Baker Chris Kael Impale’d Ale and Bad Beat Hoppy Times IPA, and Belgian gems like Delirium Tremens and Lindemans Frambois.
