Chinglish Cantonese Wine Bar
$ $Finding elevated Cantonese cuisine in Las Vegas once meant choosing between the Strip and Chinatown. No longer. The Boca Park shopping plaza is now home to Chinglish, a family-owned restaurant that serves authentic recipes to the Summerlin crowd. Chef Po-Fai Lam brings decades of experience in fine dining restaurants and his Hong Kong heritage to the kitchen, while his daughter and son-in-law run the front-of-the-house and business end. The name, Chinglish, represents the family's mix of backgrounds.
"I feel at home here … also growing up in a mixed culture household," says Lorraine Blanco Moss, chef and host of Nevada Public Radio's Exit Spring Mountain. "The Portuguese fried rice reminds me of my childhood, if (I'd grown) up with a chef parent. Chef Lam’s family is very lucky they did."
The signature Peking Duck is dry-aged in house and roasted in a specialty oven. The chicken dumplings, deep-fried lemon chicken and curry short rib are also highlights. The drink list combines an intriguing, evolving wine list and an inventive lineup of cocktails. Ask about the "secret" Old Fashioned menu.
