Sweets Raku

$

Sweets Raku is owned by Aburiya Raku's Mitsuo Endo (with the pair located in the same Chinatown shopping center). And his unfailing dedication to excellence might be your first clue that something truly special is going on here.

“Raku” translates from the Japanese to “enjoyment,” but most of the pastries here are translated from the French. Consider climbing to the sweet heights of Mt. Fuji, which is fluffy sponge cake with chestnuts and chestnut paste covered in chestnut cream and served with Hennessy ice cream and cinnamon cookies. Or see stars with Stella, which is a raspberry tart with fresh strawberry and mascarpone mousse, served with strawberry sorbet.

But despite the name and stated mission, Sweets Raku also serves some savory selections. There's the Iberico bacon sandwich (with grilled mozzarella cheese), as well as the quiche (made with Italian bacon and Gruyere).

You can choose a dessert set of two, or the Sweets Raku Savory Dessert Set, which brings you two savory choices and two desserts (and you can add caviar, a cheese plate or a sandwich). Finish with Champagne or wine (including dessert wines), beer, coffee or tea.
