EDO Tapas & Wine

Neon Feast contributor Arlene Wszalek, a senior vice president at Allied Global Marketing, was among numerous survey participants who like EDO for a multitude of reasons.

“Brilliant food, imaginatively presented, criminally reasonable prices,” Wszalek said. “The 10-course tasting menu,” which is $70, “has to be one of the best deals in town.”

That tasting menu is strong testimony to the remarkable range of chef Oscar Amador Edo, a Barcelona native. It includes such dishes as Peruvian baby scallops with fermented tomato water, foie gras terrine with binchotan-smoked baby corn, tempura squash blossoms with wild boar ragu and sherry-braised short ribs with leek and cabbage ravioli. There’s a vegetarian version, too.

Step away from it, though, and the choices don’t get any less interesting. There’s a beef tartare, but also a green tartare of zucchini and avocado with pistachio vinaigrette. Or indulge in suckling pig terrine with braised artichokes, shallots and salsify. The less-adventurous can satisfy themselves with three varieties of pan con tomate or Spanish risotto with wild mushrooms and Manchego. And vegans have such choices as Artichoke Tres Texturas (puree, confit and chips) or roasted celery root with truffle vinaigrette.

Fun Fact: EDO is short for “extra day off.”
