Pamplona
$ $Las Vegas tapas-lovers don’t have to go to the Strip to get a quality fix, say Las Vegas Advisor publisher Anthony Curtis, who finds that Pamplona serves tapas “on a par with the Jaleos and Serranos in the big casinos, but at half the price.”
He also finds it a fine spot for liquid refreshment, in the form of the “best sangria in town, loaded with fresh fruit and served in red or white versions.”
The restaurant shows off its Iberian meats and imported Spanish cheeses on its Seleccion Pamplona, and in dishes such as Iberico pork skirt steak, pork loin topped with Iberico ham and piquillo pepper stuffed with mushrooms and goat cheese. Tapas selections are plentiful, and include the classic pan con tomate, patatas bravas, calamares fritos and pulpo asado and the Latin-inflected tostones and platanos maduros
Paellas are another specialty. Options include seafood, meat and vegetarian varieties, as well as one with chicken, chorizo and pork. And you can add a sweet finish with flan or Torrijas de la Abuelita (fried brioche with Spanish custard, caramelized sugar and cinnamon).
