Oh la la French Bistro

Neon Feast contributor and former Review-Journal restaurant critic Heidi Knapp Rinella likes Oh la la because it’s an intimate space that serves updated versions of classic French dishes, and has lots of fun by celebrating French holidays including Bastille Day and the first day of Nouvelle Beaujolais season.

“The French onion soup, for example, is exquisite,” she said, “with the distinctive nuttiness of Gruyere. But if you’re looking for something a little different, the warm crusted pistachio goat cheese is always warm, gooey perfection.”

Carefully crafted beef tartare is available in two sizes to serve those looking for either an appetizer or entree, and other classic favorites include Moules Marniere, Duck Magret and roasted Cornish hen Provencal, with non-traditional choices including two pastas and a vegetarian risotto. Or choose a charcuterie or cheese board, or one with smoked salmon, toast, creme fraiche, capers and lemon. And you’re not likely to go wrong finishing with chocolate mousse or creme brulee.
